Meet Dr. Yolanda Sanders

She/Her/Hers

Psychotherapist (LPC, IL)

Hello, I'm Dr. Yolanda Sanders!

I'm a licensed professional counselor, a national certified counselor, a lifelong learner, an educator, a board-certified coach, and a mid-life career changer!

I worked as an educator for over 2o years before making a career change. That's how I ended up with a doctorate in education. I majored in curriculum and instruction and was passionately determined to change public education for the better.

Early on during my time as an educator, I wanted to learn to truly meet the needs of all my students. As a result, I developed an extended curiosity about child development and emotional needs. I then began taking additional courses in child psychology, which was around the year 2000. At that time, my counseling psychology program required me to work with adults, and I loved it! I thought that if I could support the adults in their goals of living a better life, I could also, indirectly, support the needs of the children in their care.

Unfortunately, life sometimes life gets in the way. It wasn't until 2022 that I completed my MA in counseling from Northwestern University. Now I am a licensed professional counselor working under the supervision of Dhara Nathwani, LCPC (IL).

Being a therapist has been a long-time dream. Although I could have continued to put it off, I may have always regretted it.

Whether you have experienced a significant life change or want to make a change, I would be honored to help you on your journey.

Sincerely,

Yolanda
